Looking for an easy DIY for Christmas? Here’s a simple DIY for an upcycled bottle brush tree. All you need is five minutes and little how-to.

Okay, friend. Are you ready? Do I have the CHRISTMAS DECORATING TIP FOR YOU.
See these tiny white bows? Aren’t they the cutest?
And the best part?
You can get an entire pack of 50 of them for under $8.
You can see the entire package of bows here.
I wanted to tell you because we are friends and I know that according to all the news near and far, bows are the thing this Christmas. I’m making the CUTEST bow garland and tying bows on the tree and wearing bow sweaters and adding bows to the top of the tree.
Christmas 2024.
All the bows all the time.
It’s a bow world and I’m happy to be living in it.
But wait until you see what I made with these tiny little mini bows.
And I’m going to show all of you how to make it, too.
All you need is five minutes to make this.

Here is my upcycled bottle brush tree in all its glory.
Isn’t it the CUTEST?
And do you want to see it finished and decorating my kitchen island?

// evergreen tree //
Here it is in between the paper tree and the wood chip tree and the evergreen tree.
A veritable forest.
(total aside: I just got those evergreen trees at Target and they are perfect for from now until winter—the leaves are bendable and they come in that cute pot. You can see them here.)
I just found similar bow trees like this earlier in the week online and I was about to put them in my cart and then I looked at the price tag
$44 DOLLARS.
Seriously?
$44 dollars for a bottle brush tree with bows?
Umm.
I was born, but it wasn’t yesterday.
So I decided to go all necessity is the mother of invention and make my own. It is such a simple project (you probably don’t even need the instructions—but just in case) here’s how I made this tree.

Upcycled Bottle Brush Tree DIY
supplies:
bottle brush tree (you probably already have these, but I found this set here)
white bows
hot glue

1. glue your first bow at the top of the tree
Start by gluing your bows to the top of the tree.
See.
I told you it was easy.
You can see a similar set of bottle brush trees here.

2. glue your next row of bows
Here’s the tree with the bows scattered all over it.
Start alternating bows on your tree in rows.
Keep gluing until you have covered the tree.
That’s it.
Now the only thing left is to decorate.

And now?
Here is the finished upcycled bottle brush tree.
Doesn’t it look so cute in a forest of trees?
And the amazing thing about this forest? There are so many other ideas for DIY trees.

You can make trees like this out of song pages.
Or book pages.
Simply cut the pages in strips, fringe the ends and glue in circles around a cone.

Here’s another upcycle bottle brush project.
Take a basic bottle brush tree.
Glue on the top of a doorknob (here are two examples with a crystal doorknob and a metal doorknob).

Make a wood bark tree.
Take a cone and glue pieces of overlapping bark to create a tree.
I really like birch bark for this type of craft.
You can see birch bark chips here.

Make a tree with paper and beads.
Glue layers of paper leaves with beads in between the leaves.
Finish off the tree with a bead for a star.

And now my kitchen island is ready for Christmas.
All the bows and all the trees.
And do you see someone down there in the left hand corner?
Look who was helping me get the house ready for Christmas. I see you, Buddy.
I love this little forest and these DIY trees so much.
If I would have bought them in the store, they would have cost over $40 each.
But now?
Thanks to tiny bows? I can make an entire forest for under $8.
Merry cost-effective Christmas to me.
