Did you know that there are coffee rankings?

Best to not-so-best.

Who knew?

I am not a fancy coffee drinker.  Not even close.  I just like coffee.  Any kind of coffee will do as long as it’s hot and comes in a mug with a handle.  But I was curious?  What are the best inexpensive coffees?  Enter the coffee rankings.

Are you ready?

Guess what number one was?

Tim Hortons.

I’ve never heard of that brand before.

But number two?  It’s a favorite around our house.  We drive through and order it.  We have bags of it around the house.  We drink it summer, winter, spring and fall.

It’s Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.

You can see the rest of the coffee rankings here.

And now?  I’m grabbing a cup and sharing tons of pumpkin decorating ideas for the family room.

This year in the family room?

It’s all about the pumpkins.

The room is so neutral and the couches and walls and most of the accessories are cream or white or khaki. If you have a room like this? Orange is your best friend.

It adds a little pop of color that makes fall even more fun.

Here are 11 ways to decorate with pumpkins

1. Add a row of pumpkins to the top of a box or even a shelf

I needed a little pop of color in the back of the room, so I added four pumpkins in a row on the vintage toolbox in the back.

Vary the size and shape of your pumpkins to make the display even more interesting.

2. Add a pumpkin to a stack of books

These are distressed books that someone sent me with thistlewood farms stamped on them.

The books are wrapped with a wood bead strand.

Then I added woven pumpkin to the top of the books.

3. Place pumpkins in a basket with stems

This is the basket that I just got at the vintage store downtown.

I placed stems in it to one side.

And the other side?

I filled up with pumpkins.

4. Decorate a hutch with pumpkins

I completely redecorated this hutch for fall.

Each of the shelves are filled with pitchers and other thrift store pieces.

Then after I added all the pieces to the shelves, I layered in the pumpkins.

5. Place pumpkins on a pedestal

Isn’t this white bead pedestal the cutest?

I love adding pedestals like this to any display for height. And then adding pumpkins to them.

If you don’t have pedestals like this, you can always use cake stands or books or even flipping another piece upside down. The key is to create variations with your silhouette.

6. Pumpkin vases

One fun way to decorate with pumpkins is to use them as vases.

Cut out the center and then place a glass vase in the center.

Then fill with water and fresh flowers.

7. Use pumpkins as place card holders

Mini pumpkins make perfect (and super cute) place card holders.

Just use a calligraphy pen to write your guests’ names on them, then prop them up on each plate.

It’s a party favor and a name card holder all in one.

8. Paint pumpkins

I change colors for fall each year.

If you are decorating for fall on a budget, paint those pumpkins. You can spray paint them white or silver or gold.

Quick tip–take the stems off before you paint.

9. Make a pumpkin topiary

I just priced pumpkin topiaries.

Yikes.

So I’m making my own for the front door. It’s relatively easy. Just stack small pumpkins atop each other, then secure them in place with dowels inserted into the center of each one.

10. Group pumpkins

Make a big impact by grouping together several different sizes and colors of pumpkins and gourds, then arranging them on coffee tables and bookcases.

I just filled up the hutch in the kitchen almost completely with pumpkins.

Make sure to group them in odd numbers.

11. Fill a basket with pumpkins

This basket usually holds stacks of magazines and sits on my coffee table.

I took the magazines out and filled it with pumpkins.

Pick a color scheme and start adding different sizes and shapes of pumpkins.

And now?

We’re back to where we started.

Coffee.

And lists.

And feeling blessed.

I’m raising my coffee cup to you and sinking into the pillows and spending the day with all my pumpkins.

What are you and your coffee doing today?
