Looking for a simple spring centerpiece idea? Here’s a simple idea you can create in under 5 minutes with books, flowers and a nest.

Yesterday I was in the middle of telling Whitney (the youngest twin) a story about something I was nervous about, but I went ahead and took a leap of faith and it worked out better than I could have ever even imagined.
She cheered me on and laughed and then replied, “Go off Mom. Go off.”
What?
Excuse me?
I stopped talking and asked her, “What did you say?”
“Go off,” she replied. “You know. It’s like saying you got this.”
So in a vain attempt to update all our vocabulary, I thought I’d share what all the cool kids are saying.
You’re welcome.
Today on Thistlewood I’m sharing a spring centepiece idea.
Wait until you see what I created using this amazing wooden tray.
Go off, KariAnne. Go off.

Here’s the family room all decked out for spring.
This was actually my view with coffee and the sound of Buddy snoring yesterday morning.
I was so inspired by the sunshine and the flowers keeping the bunny pillows company so I snapped a few quick pics so I could show you how I created it.

Simple Spring Centerpiece
It all started when I went to Target for carrots the other day.
I went in for vegetables and left with this.
I wish you could see it in person. It is literally the prettiest tray I have seen in a long time. It has scalloped handles and it looks like it was hand-carved in a workshop in the middle of the French countryside. The center (not including the handles) measures 20″ x 20″.
You could use it for a charcuterie board.
Or a serving platter at parties.
Or the perfect base for a spring centerpiece.
Let’s see how I created this. You can use a 20″ x 20″ tray you already have or you can find this one here.

I started with a stack of books. Books are the PERFECT thing to use when you need a little height in an arrangement. You can adjust the books depending on the height you need. Here? I used two to add a little height to one of the plants.
I have all sorts of books at my house that aren’t cute.
So I cover them.
You can see how I cover books here.

Here’s what the plants look like stacked next to each other in order.
I got these plants at Trader Joe’s.
They came in these sweet paper bag containers with a plastic liner.
The flowers just look like spring.

Then I added another stack of vintage books tied with a string.
Then added a nest with tiny eggs on top.
That’s it.
Two flowers, a couple of stacks of books and a nest.

I added a few other bits of spring to the room.
These rabbit pillows are the SWEETEST.
The bunny is raised and embroidered on the pillow with a wreath of leaves and the entire pillow is fringed all around.
You can see the bunny pillow here.

This book page art is on the side table.
My sister made it for me for Christmas and I love it so much I keep it up year round.
You can see all the details and how she made it here.

The flowers are blooming.
There are rabbits hopping on the sofa and nests full of eggs.
And now? The living room is ready for spring.
When I saw it decorated and blooming and happy and sunshiny? I had two words to tell it.
Go off, living room. Go off.
PS Here are some other sweet spring finds I found when I went shopping.
