Looking for the perfect gift idea for Father’s Day or a wedding or anniversary? Here’s how to turn a photo into a watercolor painting with one click.

I was shopping for artwork for my walls.
And then I remembered something amazing.
Instead of shopping artists and canvases and wall art and paying a lot of money for art? What if I just shopped myself instead?
I remembered I have an app on my phone that I installed zillions of years ago that turns any photo into a watercolor.
I know, right?
It’s literally amazing.
And then my brain started hopping around full of brilliant thoughts.
Wouldn’t this make the perfect Father’s Day gift?
Or wedding gift?
Or anniversary gift?
Or just general wonderful, amazing gift?
Because this photo of the blue and white vase with pink flowers?
Now with one click of my finger? It looks like this.

SERIOUSLY?
Right?
Doesn’t it look like an artist painted it?
And now you can have a tiny watercolor painting artist who lives in your pocket….
….on your phone.

How to Turn Any Picture Into a Watercolor
You can transform any picture into a watercolor in four easy steps with an app called
….Waterlogue.
When I got it, it was free, but when I went and looked it up it’s $3.99 now. This post isn’t sponsored or anything like that. I just use it and LOVE IT. It works with iPhones or ipads and it costs about $3.99 through the app store.
The cost of two tubes of lipstick at the dollar store.
And totally worth it.
If you don’t have an iPhone, it looks like there’s a desktop version. You can see more about that here.
I also found a contact form for them if you want to contact them with any questions about it.

You download the app to your device.
Then click on the camera button and upload a picture.
And in about 30 seconds later it looked like this.
You can choose different watercolor styles.
This is the picture in Natural.

This is the Vibrant setting.

This is the same picture in the Bold setting.

There are also different settings you can use to create more of a pencil drawing or to have more of an impressionistic style.
This is the same photo in the “It’s Technical” setting.

This is the same photo in the Streamlined Version.

Here’s the front of the house in the Streamlined Version.
Wouldn’t this make the cutest photo for a wedding present?
Or an anniversary gift?

I was just having so much fun I couldn’t stop.
What about this as a framed piece of art in the house?
Or a photo in the dining room OF the dining room.

You can create so many different looks of the picture in the app.
You can try each picture in different versions.
I found that some pictures look better in some versions and other pictures look better in other versions.
Here’s the dining room in the Streamlined Version.

And look how well it works with pictures of people.
This is Whitney and Buddy in the Streamlined Version.
Wouldn’t this be so perfect for Father’s Day?
I tried several “people” photographs and I think it works best with closer up photos of people rather than farther away.
Once your picture is exactly how you like it….just click the heart to share or e-mail the photo to yourself.
Then you can print it out on archival paper or card stock and frame it.
The perfect gift with only one click.
Have you ever tried this before? Or do you have other options for turning photos into watercolor?
My brain is ready.
