TIPS 11 Things I Wish I Would Have Bought Sooner (May Edition)

A woman with long blonde hair, wearing a light gray shirt and white pants, stands in a hallway holding two woven baskets. She is smiling and standing near a staircase and a bench with an "XOXO" pillow. A door with an "Office" sign is in the background.

I just sent out Evites for Mother’s Day.

Now that I’m officially a cook, I invited my mother and mother-in-law as guests of honor Saturday night for a feast.

I’ve cooked a test run and gotten input from my test-kitchen panel and already figured out the dessert I made was NOT going to work at all (it was a strawberry pie that I couldn’t figure out how to get it to “set” correctly with gelatin).

Go big or go home.

We are printing out menus and I’ve ordered the cutest napkins and table runner and placemats for the table and appetizers and a musical performance are scheduled for 5:30.

Fingers crossed.

It’s going to be epic.

If it all works out I’ll share pictures and the menu and the recipes.

But today?

Today is when I’m sharing all my favorite finds from last month, there’s a tanning solution, a mopping solution, a storage solution and a solution for all those pesky flies.

Here are 11 things I wish I had bought sooner.

Two woven straw baskets with rectangular shapes are stacked on a cushioned bench, adding an air of sophistication that makes the house look more expensive. They feature an earthy texture and open handles, set against a light-colored wall and background.

Two woven rectangular baskets stacked on top of each other feature natural straw textures. Each has a cutout handle on the side, enhancing an elegant aesthetic that makes any house look more expensive. They are placed on a soft-colored surface with a blurred background.

A person with long blonde hair, wearing a gray top and white pants, holds two stacked, woven storage baskets that make the house look more expensive. They are smiling in front of a light-colored bench amidst blurred interior details.

// set of scallop baskets //

1. This set of scallop baskets

Let’s start with my favorite way to organize.

This set of scallop baskets have hinged lids in the back and scallops in the front.

They are so sturdy and the perfect way to organize all that “stuff” that needs a home.

You can see the set of scallop baskets here.

Swiffer Power Mop Wood kit packaging shows the mop, a bottle of cleaning solution, two batteries, and two mopping pads. The label highlights it is designed for wood floors and includes all necessary components.

// wood power mop //

2. This wood power mop

I’m always cleaning up little messes around the house.

I’m looking at you Buddy.

This is the perfect solution. The mop has a cleaning solution that clicks in place, then you just press the button and cleaner squirts out and you can just mop it up right then and there.

The set comes with two mop pads that you can wash and replace.

It’s the perfect solution to clean your floors quickly and easily.

You can see the wood power mop here.

A sleek, white, modern trash can with a rectangular shape and a hinged lid. The sides are vertically ribbed, and the bottom edge is lined with a silver-gray trim. The lid appears to be smooth and flat.

// automatic opening trashcan //

3. This automatic opening trash can

This is the CUTEST trashcan and it opens automatically when you wave your hand.

There’s a little button at the end of the lid, you wave your hand over it and the top pops open automatically.

Then it closes itself and looks neat and tidy.

You can see the trash can here.

A rectangular wicker basket with a lid sits on a round white table. A black electrical cord runs into one end of the basket, suggesting it is used to store or hide cables.

// cable management box //

4. This cable management box

A while back some of you messaged me about cord management.

I shared this basket that we have that sits on the side table.

There are notches on both sides where the cords come out and the rest of the cords are all inside the basket. It just keeps everything neat and organized.

You can see this cable management box here.

Three round, gold-colored metal wall hooks are mounted side by side on a white background. The hooks have a smooth, brushed finish and a simple, modern design.

// these suction cup hooks //

5. These suction cup hooks

I’ve used these before, but I just reordered them.

These suction hooks go everywhere.

There’s a suction part in the back that you suction on and then add the hook on top.

The perfect solution for everywhere you need a hook.

You can see these suction cup hooks here.

A bottle of AmLactin Intensive Healing lotion with a pump sits on a marble bathroom counter. The label highlights "15% lactic acid" and "new improved formula" for dry, flaky, ashy skin.

// this solution for crepy skin //

6. This solution for crepy skin

This is actually not my solution.

I’ve been dealing with crepy skin on my arms and I reached out to a friend of mine who is a big YouTuber and a dermatologist.

And she recommended this AmLactin Intensive Healing Body Lotion.

I ordered it a while back and I’ve been using it ever since and it has made SUCH A DIFFERENCE. I use it right after the bath and it seals in all the moisture and my skin still looks soft and generally uncrepy the next day.

You can see this solution for crepy skin.

A square, bronze-colored package of L'Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze self-tanning towelettes. The text indicates they provide a medium tan, are streak-free, and offer a natural-looking tan. The package contains one single-use towelette.

// self-tanner towelettes //

7. Self-tanner towelettes

I’ve shared these before and they were one of my best sellers, so I thought they deserved a repeat.

These are so easy if you are going on vacation or don’t want to mess with a spray.

They come in a set of six and you just take out the towelette (that looks just like a face wipe) and wipe the self-tanner on.

The tan looks so realistic and easy to use. I use Medium for my shade.

You can see the self-tanner towelettes here.

// bendable branches //

8. These bendable branches

One of the best ways to bring a little spring and summer into a room?

Greenery.

You can cut branches from the yard and put them in a glass vase or you can use these faux branches. They come in a set of three and are almost 4 feet long.

The stems bend and they drape so realistically.

You can see the branches here.

Image of Zevo flying insect trap starter kit packaging. The device is plugged into a wall outlet and claims to capture house flies, fruit flies, and gnats by attracting them with optimized light. The packaging features bright blue and yellow colors with text and icons.

9. Flying Insect Trap

I don’t know where all the flies in our house come from, but nothing makes me more frustrated than FLIES.

This is such an amazing solution.

You plug it in and it attracts the bugs with a blue light. You just toss the strip after a week or so and add a new one. I couldn’t even believe how many flies it catches and how well it works.

You can see the flying insect trap here.

A bright bedroom with a white bed featuring blue checkered bedding and colorful pillows. Two wicker baskets with cushions are at the foot of the bed. The room has white walls, blue curtains, matching lamps, and framed artwork above the bed.

// this queen-size duvet cover // this gingham duvet cover //

10. This queen-size duvet set

I love a good quality duvet cover—especially one that’s neutral.

It’s under $25 for the white set with the shams (but it comes in tons of other colors, too) and it feels so high-end. If you are looking for a summer bed refresh? This set is such a good value for the price.

You can see the queen-size duvet set here.

And this blue and white gingham duvet cover here.

A black planter filled with vibrant pink flowers and dark green leaves is displayed on a tiled surface. The background shows a black and white striped rug, adding contrast and enhancing the visual appeal of the bright flowers.

// these faux flowers //

11. These faux flowers

Last year, I had these flowers on my porch with my Diplandenias and they looked so real everyone thought they were the same flower.

They come in a set of two packs and when you fluff them out, the two sets fill out a planter like this.

I added dirt to the planter and stuck the flowers in the dirt. I think they look so real because the leaves are two different colors.

You can see the faux flowers here.

// scallop baskets set of three // gray sweater // sparkly shoes // metal flower garland // metal wreath with flowers //

I hope you found a few solutions with this post.

That’s me—the solution girl.

And I’ll report back on the entire Mother’s Day celebration and menu.

Fingers crossed.
