Looking for simple bathroom organization ideas? Here are 17 ideas to get your bathroom organized for spring.

I had my head under the sink in the bathroom with rolls of toilet paper and rolled-up tubes of toothpaste with cotton balls and Q-tips scattered on the floor and my husband walked into the bathroom and asked me if I was nesting.
Truth?
At that moment I could identify with a mama robin.
Chirp. Chirp.
There is something about spring and organizing.
Is it just me or can anyone else here appreciate the satisfaction of opening up a drawer or a cabinet or closet and after an hour of sorting and rearranging and tossing and cleaning?
That drawer or cabinet or closet looks like it stepped out of a magazine.
Sigh.
It’s just so fulfilling.
I tackled the bathrooms yesterday.
Need a little inspiration to embark on your own satisfying organizing journey?
Here are 17 simple ideas for bathroom organization (my favorite is number 12).

17 Simple Ideas for Bathroom Organization
1. Find a trash can with a lid
We have one just on the other side of this toilet (it’s kind of shy) and it’s a game-changer.
You just step on the pedal and it lifts up the top. Buddy kept getting into the trash until we came up with these new trash cans that tuck everything away and keep everything nice and neat. It also has an inner trash can you can just lift out so the outer trash can always stays so neat. And it’s rectangular so it fits perfectly in tight spaces and has tons more room for trash.
You can see it here.
And have you seen this one? You just wave your hand over it and it opens automatically. I ordered them for the twin’s bathroom at college and they work like a dream.
You can see the automatic lid trash can here.

2. Organize drawers
This is one of my favorite tasks. I just cleared out these drawers in the bathroom and added these marble organizers.
Here are some simple ideas for drawer organization:
- take everything out of the drawers first (it’s so much easier to organize if you start with an empty drawer)
- throw away anything that’s damaged or expired or dried up
- get rid of duplicates if needed (some I moved to a cabinet for guests)
- sort items so like is grouped with like (for example– I put toothpaste and toothbrush together and hair brushes and hair clips together)
- wipe down the drawer and clean all the extra product and dust off the bottom
- put everything in its place in flexible organizers (these are my favorite organizers that we use all over the house if you are looking for a more affordable organizing option)

3. Use baskets and bins for storage
I store toilet paper in baskets under the sink (you can see the toilet paper there in the back). I open up that plastic shrink wrap and put all the toilet paper rolls into a basket.
There is NOTHING better than not having to dig around in plastic when you are trying to replace the toilet paper.
I use these metal bins that I got several years ago at Walmart to organize extra shampoos and cleaning products.
They have compartments and they are perfect to reach under the sink and lift them out by the handle.
You can see them here (and they are sale right now).

4. Sort towels
I went through all the towels in the bathroom and got sorted them into two piles: those that needed to be donated to our local animal shelter and those that could be saved.
For the downstair bathroom, I have white towels that are interchangeable between either room.
These are the towels I’ve ordered on repeat (they hold up so well in the wash and feel so fluffy after all this time).
You can see how I organize the linen closet with all the towels here.

I ordered these monogrammed hand towels for the twins’ bathroom and they are SO CUTE and affordable.
Also—one last tip for the bathroom. I was using white washcloths to take off my make-up, but they got stained so easily (fake tan I’m looking at you). So I found these make-up washcloths that were dark to hide the make-up stains.
I’ve had them for over a year and they wash up perfectly and still look like new.
You can see the make-up remover washcloths I ordered here.

5. Pretty dishes for rings and jewelry
I keep pretty containers by all the sinks to keep rings or jewelry when we are getting ready.
It’s so much easier to apply hand lotion without your rings on.
I got this crystal jewelry organizer several years ago—but look at this adorable monogrammed jewelry dish that’s on sale right now (it would make the BEST Mother’s Day present, t00).
You can see it here.

6. Hang hand towels from hooks instead of towel bars
I’ve been doing this for years and every time I reach for a hand towel I tell myself how brilliant I am.
The hand towels always look neat and organized and you don’t have to worry about folding them perfectly.
My hook has crystal tips to make it look extra fancy.
You can see a super similar nickel and crystal hook here.
7. Add over-the-door hooks on the door to hang towels and robes
If you are short on space in the bathroom or you are a renter who can’t add holes in the wall for hooks?
This over-the-door hook is gold.
We got some super similar hooks like these for the twins in their dorm rooms and their first apartments.
You can see them here.

8. Add a pull-out mirror so you can see the back of the head to check on ponytails and buns
It’s so hard when you pull your hair back in a bun and making sure it looks as cute as you think it does.
A pull-out mirror can help with that.
It’s has a magnification side that’s also gold when you need to put on make-up up close.
You can see a similar pull-out mirror here.
9. Place a narrow rolling shelf next to the toilet that pulls out
In a bathroom? No storage space goes overlooked.
Like the extra space by the toilet.
It’s perfect for adding a little more storage. I found this rolling rack that’s perfect.
You can see it here.

10. Add pretty containers for cotton balls, q-tips, and bath freshys
You don’t have to hide organizers away.
Especially if they are as pretty as this.
My husband calls all the extra bath beauty stuff “freshly powders” and these are the perfect container to store them in.
You can see them here.
This q-tip organizer is also super useful.
And speaking of “freshy” I’m all about these shower steamers with eucalyptus and essential oils.

11. Add a pretty hand soap container
Nothing makes a bathroom cuter than a sweet-smelling hand soap.
It’s the last thing your guests remember when they leave the room.
Lemon verbena is my go-to scent for spring.
And this is my tried and true favorite that I’ve used for years.

12. Use a corner shelf in the tub/shower area to add extra storage for shampoo and conditioner
If you are looking for a smart solution for shower organization and you don’t want to drill holes in your tile?
Why not use these shelves instead?
They are super strong and have an adhesive back that instantly holds them in place. Quick note—if you have round corners these won’t really work so make sure to check before you order.
You can see the shelves here.

13. Use the rings on your shower curtain to hang a shoe organizer for extra storage in the shower
If you are super short on storage in the bath?
Don’t overlook the back of the shower rings to hang a small shoe organizer like this.
Use double-sided hooks like these to hang the shoe organizer on the inside.
You can see the shower hooks here.

14. Add organizers to the inside of cabinet doors for even more under-cabinet storage
The inside of cabinet doors is the perfect place to add extra storage.
You don’t need to make any holes in the cabinets because there are hooks you use to hang it over the side of the door.
It’s the perfect organizer for hair products and hair tools.
You can see the door organizers here.
15. Use a lazy susan in the back cabinets to make everything easier to reach
Maximize storage in the back of the cabinets with a lazy susan.
It’s so much easier to get to products or supplies if you can just spin to find them.
You can see a lazy susan organizer here.
(total aside: does anyone know who Susan was and why did spinning a turntable make her lazy?)

16. Store extra hand towels in drawers for guests
I love having a drawer just devoted to hand towels.
That way I just grab one to refresh the towel on the hook when I know a guest is coming over.
Sometimes I add a new towel when I wake up the house in the morning.
You can add a small lavender sachet or even a dryer sheet to keep everything fresh.
These Egyptian cotton hand towels are my favorites.

17. Add a tub tray to the bath
My brother made this tub tray for me years ago and I love it.
He made it from a piece of wood and added leather handles. It’s perfect for magazines and books and keeping everything in place.
You can make your own with this DIY here.
Or here’s a great option for an expandable tub tray here (and it’s on sale right now).

And one more for the road because it was too good not to share.
Look at this mat that covers your sink and extends your counter space. I’ve never used it but I’m thinking about ordering it for the twins for their bathroom.
You can see it here.

Are you organizing right now?
