Just in case I hadn’t mentioned it before?

My father was one of the wisest men that ever lived.

He was full to the brim of extra wise sayings and one of his favorites went like this…

…“The key is to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.”

I know, right?

Brilliant.

If any of my children are reading this–they are nodding now, too.

They’ve heard me say this over and over and over again. When I paint a room and it’s the wrong color? I keep going until I get it right. When I fuss about something and the day doesn’t look so bright? I try and turn it around by readjusting my attitude. When Westleigh calls me and tells me her roommate cut 6″ off of Westleigh’s hair? I remind myself it’s only hair. And hair grows back.

And so it was that this past weekend when Target launched the limited edition Rifle Paper home line that I had been waiting for with every fiber of my being and I missed it because I was sailing the Atlantic Ocean in a pair of gold flip-flops and a beach cover-up.

I tossed my ponytail at defeat.

And found victory instead.

Just. Like. This.

Here’s what the Rifle Paper collection looks like on the Target website.

Have you heard of Rifle Paper before?

I’ve been a fan of this beautifully illustrated brand since I found them over 10 years ago. I’ve had Rifle Paper notebooks and prints and sketch pads and cards and each print is so beautiful and colorful and is so brilliantly illustrated. Anna Bond is the artist behind Rifle Paper Co. She started the company with her husband in 2009 from their garage apartment. Their first wholesale client was Anthropologie and the business has grown to include partnerships with companies like Keds and now—Target.

I had seen a sneak peek at the collection on another blog and I was so excited because it was so affordable and there was this one set of prints that I KNEW would be perfect for the house.

You can see them here.

Sigh.

If you clicked? You probably saw the “out of stock” notification.

That’s because I missed the opening day of the collection because of the cruise. When I went over to the website the next day, so many of the things I had marked to put in my cart were already sold out.

This is the defeat part of the story.

But then?

I took the whole snatching victory from the jaws of defeat to heart.

And found several other things that are SO CUTE and still in stock at the time I’m writing this.

Here are some of my favorite finds grouped by pattern.

Rifle Paper Hydrangea Pattern

I took a poll on Instagram of four different Rifle Paper patterns and this one was voted the favorite.

Which is amazing.

Because it’s my favorite, too. This pattern features clusters of white hydrangeas on a blue background with green stems.

This Target collection has furniture, too, and I included some of my favorite pieces like this chair and ottoman.

Here are my favorite pieces from the collection:

  • this set of taper candles with candlesticks
  • this ottoman
  • this storage box
  • this pillar candle set
  • this planter
  • this upholstered chair

Rifle Paper Garden Party Pattern

This pattern is so bright and colorful.

And happy.

There are pink and purple and salmon and crimson flowers on a light green background.

This Target collection has furniture, too, and I included some of my favorite pieces like this chair and ottoman.

Here are my favorite pieces from the collection:

  • this taper candle set with candlesticks
  • this ottoman
  • this storage box
  • floral lamp
  • this upholstered chair
  • this pillar candle set

Rifle Paper Menagerie Pattern

This pattern is so sweet with peacocks and branches and forest animals.

Wait. Maybe this one is my favorite.

I added in one box from the Peacock collection, too.

This Target collection has furniture, too, and I included some of my favorite pieces like this chair and ottoman.

Here are my favorite pieces from the collection:

  • this taper candle set with candlesticks
  • this ottoman
  • this storage box
  • this upholstered chair
  • this pillar candle set

Rifle Paper Juniper Forest Pattern

This pattern is full of life.

There are florals and stems and leaves and berries on the prettiest dark green background.

This Target collection has furniture, too, and I included some of my favorite pieces like this chair and ottoman.

Here are my favorite pieces from the collection:

  • this taper candle set with candlesticks
  • this ottoman
  • this storage box
  • this lamp
  • this upholstered chair
  • this pillar candle set

BUT WAIT.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any cuter?

When I went on Instagram and talked about the collection and that things were sold out–one of my readers messaged me and told me that they had Rifle Paper on AMAZON, too.

WHAT?

Who knew?

And not only was it on Amazon? I found this umbrella in the hydrangea pattern on sale for 1/2 off right now.

You can see the umbrella here.

I also discovered all these other fun finds.

There were bags and ribbon and artwork and platters and prints.

Here are a few of my favorites:

  • this set of small clutches
  • this 8 x 10 art print (it’s the background on the collage above)
  • this set of four cards (that would be so pretty framed)
  • this set of ribbons
  • this bright floral print
  • this menagerie forest print
  • this platter with a leopard and peacock

See what I mean?

Take that defeat.

Isn’t it amazing?

There’s nothing better than a little victory after a stumbling block.

My gold flip-flops and I are celebrating.

PS Tomorrow I’m going to be sharing all the cruise info and pics from our trip. It will be like one of those vacation slide shows except EVEN BETTER. Stay tuned.
